Middle East and North Africa: Re-drafting the Arab Charter on Human Rights: Building for a better future

The League of Arab States is set to re-draft the 1994 Arab Charter on Human Rights in order to bring it into line with international human rights law and standards. In this report Amnesty International calls on the League of Arab States to further develop the provisions of the Charter in order to avoid any inconsistency between it and international human rights law, particularly in relation to issues such as violence against women and freedom of expression, thought and religion.
