Thailand: Human rights aspects of Thailand’s Draft Assembly Act

This document provides an analysis of the human rights aspects of Thailand’s Draft Assembly Act (the Draft Act), which Royal Thai Police submitted to the NCPO and later will pass to the Cabinet and National Legislative Assembly. Each section of the analysis is followed by short recommendations. Because under the current legal situation in Thailand protection of the right to freedom of peaceful assembly cannot be ensured by changes to the Draft Act alone, some of these recommendations are for legislative and other measures beyond this Draft Act.
