China: Update on dissidents detained around 4 June 1995

In the run-up to the sixth anniversary of the 4 June 1989 crackdown against the pro-democracy movement, the Chinese authorities stepped up detentions, interrogations and harassment of dissidents. Over 50 people were detained and pressure on released dissidents and their relatives continued. Restrictions were also placed on dissidents and their families during the Fourth World Conference on Women.
