Argentina: “Occupational Hazards”? attacks, threats and harassment against journalists

Amnesty International is concerned with threats to the freedom of the press in Argentina. In recent years hundreds of cases of death threats, physical attacks and other forms of intimidation against journalists have been reported. Following the murder of press photographer, José Luis Cabezas, in January 1997, several incidents against members of the press were linked to their reporting on the killing and their coverage of the investigation initiated into his death. Very few of the incidents have been properly investigated by the authorities.
