The Asia-Pacific region covers half of the globe and is home to more than half of the planet’s population, the majority of whom are young people. Over the years, the region gained political and economic power that caused a rapid change in the balance of power and global wealth. China and the United States are battling for influence in the region. The prevailing dynamics among the major powers in the region, such as those between India, China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, also played an important role. It is therefore necessary to read general trends in the field of human rights in the light of this particular background.
