Guatemala: Open Letter from Amnesty International to Guatemalan Presidential Candidates for the September 2011 Elections
In this open letter, Amnesty International calls on all candidates in the forthcoming presidential elections on 11 September in Guatemala to commit to prioritising the respect, promotion and protection of all human rights without discrimination. The organization asks them to publicly commit to a series of specific measures, which while not an exhaustive list of human rights recommendations, could serve as a first step towards improving the human rights of all Guatemalans.
