Amnesty International welcomes French President Macron’s decision to host an international humanitarian conference for the civilian population in Gaza with the view to coordinate aid for the people of the occupied Gaza Strip, who continue to endure a devastating military operation on top of the intensification of an illegal 16-year-long blockade, which is now depriving them of objects essential to their survival, including water and fuel. We urge the organizers and participants to the conference to push for and insist on an immediate meaningful humanitarian ceasefire and exercise all required pressure on the Israel authorities and Hamas so that they abide by this call.
