Nearly 250 Chinese human rights lawyers and activists have been targeted by police in a nationwide crackdown which began on Thursday 9 July 2015. A total of eight lawyers and activists have been convicted, two lawyers are still awaiting trial or verdict. Those who are released on bail or on suspended sentences remain under strict surveillance.
