Algeria: An open human rights letter to the United Nations on the crackdown on journalists and activists in Algeria

Amnesty International joined more than 30 regional and international civil society organisations in an open letter addressed to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and other UN special mechanisms as well as UN Human Rights Council member states, calling on them to strongly condemn the arbitrary and unlawful arrest, detention and judicial harassment of journalists, human rights defenders, civil society and other peaceful activists in Algeria solely for expressing their views, for protesting peacefully and/or calling for democratic change.
