Russian Federation: Further Update: Imprisoned Political Activist Hospitalized: Vladimir Kara-Murza

On 4 July 2024, Vladimir Kara-Murza, a Russian political activist and journalist was hospitalized while serving a 25-year sentence in a strict regime penal colony IK-6 in Omsk, Western Siberia. Vladimir Kara-Murza has been diagnosed with polyneuropathy, which can lead to paralysis of the legs. Since his incarceration, he has been repeatedly subjected to arbitrary disciplinary punishments and other ill-treatment. Vladimir Kara-Murza is a prisoner of conscience, persecuted solely for exercising his right to freedom of expression. His release is especially urgent due to his deteriorating health condition.
