Iran: Centre for Human Rights Defenders under attack: Case sheet

The Centre for Human Rights Defenders (CHRD) reports on human rights violations in Iran. It has unsuccessfully sought legal registration since its formation in 2001. In December 2008 the CHRD was forcibly closed by the authorities but members continued to work. At least three members were detained following the presidential elections on 12 June 2009. In this case sheet Amnesty International calls on the Head of the Judiciary to reopen the Centre and to immediately release the three prisoners.
