Sa’eed Abd al-Hakim Mostafa, who was sentenced to death on 2 April 1998, may be executed within weeks. His sentence was upheld by the Mufti, Egypt’s highest religious authority on 4 May 1998. He was convicted along with Mostafa Hamza, who reportedly left Egypt at the end of the 1980s and is believed to be in Afghanistan.
