Russian Federation: Briefing to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women: 46th session July 2010

This briefing identifies issues, which, in the view of Amnesty International, raise concerns about the Russian Federation’s compliance with its obligations under the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. It highlights in particular concerns in relation to: discrimination against women, including violence against women; guarantee of basic human rights and fundamental freedoms; gender role stereotyping and prejudice; political and public life; and marriage and family life.
