This document details the alleged ill-treatment by German police officers of two brothers, asylum-seekers from Turkey, An investigation into this incident was launched but found insufficient evidence of the use of excessive force by police officers. In February 1998 AI urged the German authorities to launch a prompt and impartial investigation into the allegations of ill-treatment against these two Turkish juveniles. AI has received other allegations that German police officers have used excessive force in restraining or arresting people, especially asylum-seekers and members of ethnic minorities.
