Medical letter writing action: South Korea (Republic of Korea): Pang Yang- kyun

Amnesty International (AI) is concerned about reports of the ill health of Pang Yang-kyun, a 36-year-old prisoner of conscience imprisoned since 1989. He was formerly the principal political aide to an opposition member of the National Assembly, Suh Kyung-won (also a prisoner of conscience). Pang Yang-kyun is currently held in Chonju Prison. He is said to have breathing difficulties and suffer back pain, which prevents him sleeping. He is reported to have been tortured during interrogation and is now deaf in one ear. Although Pang Yang-kyun has apparently been taken to the prison infirmary, he is not believed to be receiving any medical treatment.
