USA: 4,000 days in limbo, 8,000 miles from home: Afghan Guantánamo detainee now in his 12th year without trial

Obaidullah is an Afghan national who was about 19 years old when taken from his home in eastern Afghanistan in the middle of the night by US armed forces. He entered his 12th year in US military custody on 21 July 2013 and is one of the 166 men currently held at Guantánamo Bay in Cuba. A new Amnesty International report highlights his case. Obaidullah should be immediately released if he is not to be charged and tried under proceedings that fully comply with international trial standards.
