Myanmar: Ending violence, discrimination and persecution of Myanmar’s Rohingya: Oral statement at the UN Human Rights Council

On 4 July 2018, Amnesty International delivered this oral statement at the UN Human Rights Council, during an interactive dialogue with the High Commissioner for Human Rights on the human rights situation of Rohingya people. Amnesty focused on the need for justice and accountability for crimes against humanity and serious human rights violations in Myanmar, and urged the Human Rights Council to establish an international accountability mechanism, with a mandate to collect and preserve evidence and identify individuals responsible for crimes under international law with a view to bringing them to justice.
