USA: Submission to the US Department of State Commission on Unalienable Rights

The US Department of State established a “Commission on Unalienable Rights” in 2019, in order to provide the US government with advice on how to conduct its foreign policy on human rights based on “American traditions”. After participating in all of its public meetings in 2019 and 2020, Amnesty International provided the Commission on Unalienable Rights with this written submission in May 2020, in order to highlight concerns regarding apparent conflicts of the Commission’s approach with principles of international human rights law.
