Bolivia: Hostility against human rights defenders: Amnesty International Submission for the UN Universal Periodic Review, 34th Session of the UPR Working Group, November 2019

In this submission Amnesty International evaluates implementation of recommendations made in Bolivia’s previous Universal Periodic Review, including in relation to the Truth Commission established to investigate serious human rights violations committed under previous military governments, sexual and reproductive rights of women and girls, the right to free, prior and informed consent of Indigenous Peoples, and attacks on human rights defenders. Amnesty International also raises concerns about public accusations and threats against human rights defenders and organisations by high-level authorities which has created a hostile environment for human rights work and places restrictions on freedoms of expression, association and assembly.
