Sudan: Appeals on behalf of imprisoned academics (includes correction)

This document describes four cases of academics working in higher education who have been detained without trial in Sudan since the military government seized power in June 1989. They are: Dr Ushari Ahmed Mahmoud, lecturer in languages at the University of Khartoum and director of an Arabic teaching institute; Dr Khalid Al-Kid, writer and lecturer in politics at Ahlia University, Omdurman; Dr Faruk Kaduda, economist and Head of the Economics Department at Ahlia University until his arrest; Dr Bashir Omar Fadlalla, economics lecturer at the University of Khartoum and member of the Umma Party. He has held ministerial posts in previous governments.
