Cameroon: Submission to the United Nations Committee against Torture

This submission highlights concerns with respect to the systematic use of torture and other ill-treatment of people suspected of supporting the armed group Boko Haram in detention facilities which are illegal under Cameroon’s own laws run by the Cameroonian security forces and secret services; and the state’s failure to investigate and prevent such practice in accordance with the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment of Punishment, as well as the lack of accountability for perpetrators.
