Angola: Amnesty International submission for the UN Universal Periodic Review 20th session of the UPR Working Group, October-November 2014

Angola has not fulfilled its commitment to investigate and end arbitrary arrests, detentions and torture. Police and security forces continue to violate human rights with the same apparent impunity that marked the last review period. Despite Angola’s acceptance of recommendations, forced evictions continue to occur and the suppression of freedom of association and assembly, as well as freedom of expression and freedom of the press, have been intensified by the authorities.
