Iran: Women's rights defenders defy represssion: Delaram Ali
Delaram Ali was among 70 people arrested during a peaceful demonstration in June 2006 demanding an end to legal discrimination against women in Iran. She was sentenced to 34 months' imprisonment and 10 lashes. Her sentence was temporarily stayed but she remains at risk of imprisonment as a prisoner of conscience. This case sheet calls for her case to be reviewed with a view to overturning her conviction; for an end to the use of flogging in Iran; and for a review of the discriminatory legislation.
