TURKRAN 05/92: Turkey: alleged extrajudicial executions in the Southeast: four further cases: Ibrahim Sarica, Hamit Temel, Ali Erdem, Hayrettin Demir
Four cases of alleged extrajudicial killing by counter-insurgency forces are described here. All remain on the police records as "unsolved cases". Ibrahim Sarica, a 36-year-old father of six, was shot in Cizre, Sirnak Province, on 18 June 1991. The security forces had clashed with Kurdish guerillas earlier that day. Witnesses have described seeing him in police detention before his death. Hamit Temel's body was found on 22 October 1991: he had been taken from his house two days before by men claiming to be PKK guerrillas. Ali Erdem, married with three children, was killed in Mardin province on 29 September 1991. Hayrettin Demir, aged 26 with two children, was shot by men dressed as Kurdish guerrillas on 18 August 1991.
