Wong Chi Shing may soon be executed following President Le Duc Anh's recent rejection of his appeal. Wong Chi Shing is a Hong Kong resident with a British passport who was convicted of smuggling heroin and sentenced to death on 28 May 1993 by the People's Supreme Court in Ho Chi Minh City.

VIET NAM:Wong Chi Shing
Amnesty International fears that Wong Chi Shing may soon be executed following
President Le Duc Anh's recent rejection of the appeal to commute his death
sentence.
Wong Chi Shing, who is a Hong Kong resident with a British passport, was convicted
of smuggling heroin. On 28 May 1993 the People's Supreme Court in Ho Chi Minh
City imposed the death penalty on him.
FURTHER RECOMMENDED ACTION: Please send telegrams, express and airmail letters
in English or in your own language:
- urging that Wong Chi Shing be granted clemency and that his death sentence
be commuted.
