Civil society has been at the forefront of efforts to defend human rights following the May 2014 military coup in Thailand. In response, Thai authorities have targeted political activists, human rights defenders and others as part of a systematic crackdown on government critics. This briefing illustrates cases of human rights defenders, activists, lawyers and others targeted for exercising their right to freedom of expression, freedom of association and peaceful participation.
