Malaysia: Fear of psychological torture of 10 detainees: Medical letter writing action

In April 2001 Malaysian police arrested nine opposition activists and a human rights defender under the Internal Security Act (ISA), which allows for indefinite detention without charge or trial. Amnesty international believes the detainees may have been subjected to intense psychological pressure amounting to torture and is concerned for their safety. Amnesty International regards all 10 detainees as prisoners of conscience and is calling for their immediate release.
