China: Death penalty log: July to December 1995
This is a chronological listing of accounts of death sentences and executions in China from July to December 1995 reported by various sources including the official Chinese media. Amnesty International is not in a position to assess the accuracy of each report. Based on recorded figures there has been an increased use of the death penalty over this period, although figures are believed to drastically fall short of the actual number of death sentences and executions. There is currently a national crackdown on crime and social order, Campaign "Strike Hard", which has led to an increase in the numbers of executions and mass sentencing rallies. Many people continue to be executed for non violent and economic crimes.
