Peru: Denial of the right to Maternal and Child Health: "Why have children when you're so poor?"

Infant and maternal mortality in Peru remain high. Amnesty International's research has revealed that, despite government initiatives to improve access to health services for poor and marginalized groups, women in Peru are still being denied access to medical care because they are poor. The organization is calling on the government to take urgent steps to address obstacles which prevent poor and marginalized communities from accessing health services.
