SUDANHassan Adam Ali, political activist
Amnesty International has learned that Hassan Adam Ali, a political activist
from western Sudan who was arrested upon arrival in Khartoum in late January
1996 after he was deported from Jordan, was released on 29 March. The
organization has no further information about his treatment in detention.
Amnesty International welcomes the news of his release as it had feared Hassan
Adam Ali was at risk of "disappearance" while held in incommunicado detention.
No further action by the UA Network is requested. Many thanks to all who sent
appeals on this case.
