Nigeria: The World Bank Inspection Panel’s early solutions pilot approach: the case of Badia East, Nigeria

, N° d'index: AFR 44/018/2014

In July 2014 the World Bank Inspection Panel decided not to register a Request for Inspection made by people who had been subjected to a forced eviction in Badia East, Lagos, Nigeria. The Panel’s decision not to register the Request followed the use of a new approach - the ‘pilot approach to support early solutions in the Inspection Panel process’. This briefing describes the background to the Request, the establishment of the pilot approach policy and its application to the Badia East Request. The World Bank's response to this briefing and Amnesty International's counter response are available at https://www.amnesty.org/en/documents/afr44/029/2014/en/
