Africa: Recommendations to the US government for the promotion of human rights in Africa

Amnesty International is making recommendations to the US government on the promotion of human rights in Africa to coincide with President Clinton's visit to Africa in March 1998. The recommendations include ensuring that military and other training programs contain human rights at their core, that the transfer of small arms from the US to countries in Africa take account of the Nobel Laureates' Code on Arms Transfers, that US aid programs take human rights into account and that US corporations investing in Africa abide by the Amnesty International Human Rights Principles for Companies .
