Israel and Occupied Palestinian Territories: Human rights situation remains dire: Amnesty International submission for the UN Universal Periodic Review, 29th Session of the UPR Working Group, January 2018

Amnesty International is concerned by Israel’s continued refusal to fully recognize its obligations under international human rights law in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Impunity continues for war crimes committed. Discriminatory legislation has a devastating impact on Palestinians’ right to a family life while new restrictive legislation has created an increasingly challenging environment for human rights and humanitarian organizations. The organization also raises concerns including the 10-year-old illegal blockade of the Gaza Strip, unlawful lethal force used against Palestinians, discriminatory demolition of Palestinian property and continued reports of torture and other ill-treatment of Palestinian and Israeli human rights defenders.
