The HRC must address human rights situations in China, Eritrea and Egypt

At the 41st session of the Human Rights Council, during the General Debate under Item 4, Amnesty International addressed: the situation in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, reiterating its call for the Council to establish an independent and impartial investigation; the situation in Hong Kong, condemning unnecessary and excessive use of force in the context of largely peaceful protests; the situation in Eritrea, calling for the renewal of the mandate of the UN Special Rapporteur on Eritrea; and the situation in Egypt, including conditions in prisons, the death of Hosni Mubarak, and the continued crackdown on civil society.
