Turkey: Amnesty International condemns the killing of two people in Lice

Amnesty International strongly condemns the killing of two people, whose bodies were found on 5 July 2018 in the countryside outside the town of Lice, in Diyarbakır province. 48-year-old Remzi Güler, and his 27-year-old son Mahmut Güler, were found with a note suggesting they were killed by the armed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) according to a statement from Diyarbakir Governorate. The PKK later claimed responsibility for the killings via a press release on their website.

Amnesty International condemns the killings which show contempt for the right to life and fundamental principles of humanity. Amnesty International calls on the Turkish authorities to conduct a prompt, impartial and thorough investigation and to bring anyone suspected to be responsible to justice in fair trials.
