The President of the Human Rights Council will appoint a new member of the Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances in March 2014 and another one in September 2014. In addition to meeting general criteria such as experience and objectivity, Human Rights Council decision 6/102 establishes four technical and objective requirements (qualifications, relevant expertise, established competence and flexibility/readiness and availability of time) to be considered in the selection of Special Procedures mandate-holders. This checklist is intended as an interpretive aid for those requirements.
