On 18 July 1993 Rasim Kahrimanovic, a 43-year-old Muslim from Bosnia-Herzegovina, “disappeared” in police custody in Dubrovnik. A former officer in the Bosnian army (Armija B-H) he had moved to Dubrovnik to join his wife, a refugee, at the onset of hostilities between the Armija B-H and the Bosnian Croat forces. He had reportedly been summoned to report to the police to answer allegations that he had been involved in the smuggling of foodstuffs.
