Argentina: Journalists: Press accreditation – The wrong credentials?: Threats, attacks and intimidation against members of the press

This document highlights cases of human rights abuses suffered by Argentine journalists and media workers between January 2002 and March 2004. Information is also provided on killings of journalists which took place in the 1990s and whose investigations have not concluded. The role of journalists in defending human rights will also be examined. The cases are divided into physical attacks by state security forces against journalists during coverage of popular demonstrations, and attacks and threats that journalists have received following investigations into and reports on state corruption. This report provides information of restrictions on freedom of expression in Argentina. Appendix I lists 59 individual cases related to human rights violations against journalists in Argentina.
