Women in the front line: appeals cases 1992

This document contains cases of human rights violations of women from eight countries. The cases are: the reported ill-treatment of Maria Nicolaidou, three months’ pregnant, by police in Athens in November 1991; the “disappearance” of Maria Rumalda Camey in Escuintla department, Guatemala in August 1989; the detention since 1981 of Vera Chirwa in Malawi; the “disappearance” of Muelimnin ment Bouba ould Breika after her arrest in Western Sahara in 1976; the imprisonment of NLD leader Aung San Suu Kyi in Myanmar; the reported sexual abuse of Cherry Mendoza and Cecilia Sanchez, by soldiers in the Philippines in December 1990; the death of Biseng Anik, aged 16, in police custody in March 1992 in Turkey; and the case of Karla Faye Tucker, on death row in Texas, USA.
