In this amicus curiae brief, Amnesty International argues that the Argentine criminal justice system is fully competent to investigate, prosecute and criminally punish the perpetrators of crimes against humanity committed in Venezuela, in accordance with universal jurisdiction. In this sense, it is argued that the principle of subsidiarity provided for in Argentine domestic law, and the principle of complementarity of the applicable international criminal law, in no way prevent the prosecution of this case by the Argentine criminal justice system.
