Statement by a group of Nigerian and international civil society organisations following the Nigerian Government’s launch of a clean-up programme in the Ogoniland region of the Niger Delta. The organisations welcome the commitment by the Nigerian Government, and urge the Government and the oil industry to ensure that this translates into meaningful action on the ground to tackle the impacts of decades of oil spills in the region.
