Libya: Human rights abuses continue as country descends into chaos: Amnesty International Submission to the UN Universal Periodic Review, May 2015

, Índice: MDE 19/0003/2015

In this submission Amnesty International draws attention to shortcomings in the human rights framework in Libya. Impunity for human rights abuses is widespread. The organization is concerned about the use of torture and other ill-treatment in state and militia-run detention facilities. There are severe restrictions on the rights of freedoms of expression, association and assembly. The authorities are failing to safeguard the rights of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants, as well as internally displaced persons. The death penalty continues to be prescribed for a wide range of offences.
