Amnesty International’s concerns at the 46th regular session of the United Nations General Assembly

This paper describes Amnesty International’s (AI) concerns in several areas in the context of the forthcoming 46th regular session of the United Nations General Assembly. These include: torture, summary or arbitrary executions, enforced or involuntary disappearances, the status of the International Covenants on Human Rights and the need for adequate resources for the human rights program. AI’s concerns about human rights in the following countries are also summarized: Afghanistan, El Salvador, Iran, Iraq, Iraq-occupied Kuwait, Myanmar, Israeli Occupied Territories, South Africa and East Timor.
