Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Kosovo province): Selman Sopa
Selman Sopa, a 41-year-old primary school teacher, is an ethnic Albanian from Kacanik town in Kosovo province. According to a statement given to a local human rights organization, he was reportedly severely beaten by police in Kacanik police station on 14 and 15 October 1995. His statement is supported by a medical certificate from the Orthopedic Clinic of Pristina hospital. Amnesty International is calling for a full and impartial investigation of this incident and for those responsible to be brought to justice.
