UK: Amnesty International's submission of 14 October to the UK Parliament's Joint Committee on Human Rights in connection with the Committee's inquiry into the subject of "counter-terrorism policy and human rights".

, Índice: EUR 45/050/2005

In this submission, Amnesty International comments on two recently passed anti-terrorism Acts and additional measures proposed after the London bombings in July 2005. Amnesty International considers that these measures are inconsistent with the UK's obligations under domestic and international human rights law and that, if enacted, they would lead to serious human rights violations. The document considers issues such as the creeping acceptance of torture; treatment of alleged terrorist suspects; racism; and the undermining of human rights abroad.
