Peru: "Disappearance" of two young men of the Protestant Church
This reports updates infomation on the "disappearance" of 17-year-old student and member of the Peruvian Evangelical Church Manuel Meneses Sotacuro given in Urgent Action 181/91 (see AMR 46/24/91). Amnesty International has learned the name of the other person "disappeared" along with Manuel Meneses: he is 19-year-old Felix Inga Cuya, the director of the Escuela Dominical de la Iglesia Pentecostal de Jesucristo, Sunday School of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Chilca district, city of Huancayo, Junin department. Witnesses have testified that the two young men were detained by police on 20 May 1991. Manuel Meneses was reportedly taken by police to his lodgings later that day, which were searched for incriminating evidence. He apparently bore signs of torture.
