Central African Republic: The situation of human rights in the Central African Republic: Amnesty International oral statement to the 20th special session of the UN Human Rights Council (20 January 2014)
Over the past year, the Central African Republic has become a humanitarian disaster. All parties to the conflict have committed serious violations and abuses, including war crimes and crimes against humanity. The African Union’s contingent of peacekeepers must be fully deployed and reinforced in order to offer adequate protection to a highly vulnerable population. Amnesty International urges the international community to support the efforts of religious and community leaders to bring an end to violations and abuses and to promote reconciliation across communities.
