This document contains Amnesty International's suggested recommendations for the 14 states – Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Palau, Paraguay, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands and Somalia - that are coming up for review in the UPR Working Group session commencing 18 January 2016 aimed at addressing human rights challenges and improving respect for human rights in the states under review.

Suggested recommendations to States considered in the 11th round of Universal Periodic Review, 2-13 May 2011

In this document Amnesty International makes recommendations to the governments of different states about ratification of international human rights standards, domestic legislation and human rights violations. The abuses considered include administrative detention, refoulement, forced eviction, maternal mortality, excessive use of force, the death penalty, violence against women, violations by police and other security forces and economic, social and cultural rights.

Belarus and Uzbekistan: The Last Executioners: The trend towards abolition in the former Soviet space

This report provides information and case studies about the abolition of the death penalty in the former Soviet space. Belarus and Uzbekistan are the only countries that still execute prisoners on death row. Of the other newly independent states, nine have now abolished the death penalty and four countries have moratoria in place. There are many prisoners currently on death row in territories with moratoria on executions in place and Amnesty International is concerned about the conditions in which they are held.
