Peaceful protest is under threat in Spain with police using excessive force against peaceful demonstrators and the Spanish government planning to strengthen repressive legislation, according to new research by Amnesty International.
Amnesty International’s new report, Spain: the right to protest under threat, exposes violations by police against demonstrators, the lack of accountability for these violations and the determination of the Spanish authorities to strengthen repressive legislation.
The report will be presented at a press conference in Madrid. Spokespeople will include Amnesty International experts on Spain as well as a victim of police use of excessive force.
