Chile: Amnesty International’s Secretary General to meet President Bachelet

Amnesty International’s Secretary General Irene Khan will meet Chilean President Michelle Bachelet on Thursday 6 November.

Amnesty International’s visit to Chile begun on 3 November 2008. Since then, the delegation has met with survivors and relatives of human rights abuses and Indigenous communities in Santiago, Temuco and Calama.

Highlights of Ms Khan’s programme for the last two days of her visit include:

Thursday 6th 12:30 – Irene Khan will deliver the keynote speech “Global Challenges to Human Rights in FLACSO – Room Norbert Lecher, Av. Dag Hammarsjold, 3269, Vitacura.

17:15 – Irene Khan will meet with President Michelle Bachelet – La Moneda.               18:00 – Irene Khan will give comments to the media after the meeting.

19:00 – Irene Khan will open the art exhibition “30 Chilean artists in the year of Human Rights” Museo de San Francisco, Londres 4, Santiago de Chile.   Friday 7th 10:00 – Press Conference Amnesty International Chile, Huelén 164, Santiago.
